Food
Transition Oundle encourages better understanding of the impact of food production on our environment.
Locally produced food needs less energy for transportation and benefits local businesses, the surrounding countryside and the environment. 'Qualifying marks' such as Fair Trade, Free Range, Organic or Rainforest Certified provide consumers with a little more information about how the items were produced. Growing your own food is fun (even therapeutic?) and can be very rewarding.
Transition Oundle has been involved in a number of different activities to promote food awareness:
Stall at Oundle Food Festival (Jul 2010), Stall at St Peter's Eco Fair (2010 to 2016), Panel discussion "Feeding the Next Generation" (Jul 2012), Composting Awareness stall at Barnwell Park (May 2013), Talk by Anglia Water "Sink or Swim" (Apr 2014), Oundle Open Gardens (Jul 2015).
